My name is Jason Tessier, My wife and I are first generation farmers in Skowhegan with our 2 daughters. We began farming in 1999, on family land, culminating in our diversified farm, including raw dairy as of 2017. We milk 6-8 cows at any given time, out of a herd of 35. 100% of our milk is processed and bottled on the farm, and sold within 20 miles of our farm. Our adult daughters and her husband both work full time on the farm as well. I do continue to work off the farm, for MOFGA which is also an organization supporting farmers in Maine. We are also very engaged in our local community, hosting school groups to our farm, providing farm tours, community “petting zoos” and any other way we can introduce and engage folks in agriculture.
